Studies of σ, κ and exotic states at BES
Description
Based on samples of 7.8M BESI J/ψ events and 58M BESII J/ψ events, the decays of J/ψ → ωπ+π- and J/ψ → K*(892)Kπ are studied. Clear low mass enhancement in the π+π- and Kπ invariant mass spectra recoiling against ω and K*(892) particles are seen. According to PWA analysis, these low mass enhancements are broad 0++ resonances, which considered to be the σ and κ particles. Based on some theoretical considerations, it is argued that J/ψ decay is a good place to search for 1-+ exotic states. (author)
