An evaluation of phase analysis on diagnosis of the patients with myocardial infarction

  • 1. Tokyo Metropolitan Geriatric Medical Center (Japan)

Description

Phase analysis was evaluated on detection of regional wall motion abnormality of the patients with myocardial infarction (MI). From multigate date obtained by first pass method in RAO and by equilibrium method in LAO projection, the quantitative amplitude and phase at the small ROI in the left ventricle were calculated by using Fourier transform at fundamental frequency. Regional amplitude was expressed as regional ejection fraction (REF). REF and regional phase value (RPH) thus calculated in 24 patients with anterior and inferoposterior MI were compared with those of 10 normal controls. RPH showed significant reverse correlation with R-R interval and was needed for correction by R-R interval on intercases comparison. On the other hand, no correlation was observed between REF and R-R interval. Corrected RPH at the infarcted areas of MI patients showed significant delay compared with those at the corresponding regions of normal controls. REF at the infarcted regions was significantly decreased compared with REF of normal controls. REF calculated from the data in RAO was more sensitive for detection of anterior and infero-posterior MI than those calculated in LAO projection. RPH and REF were useful to analyze regional wall motion abnormality of myocardial infarction. (author)
