EPR studies of gadolinium: possible application in nuclear fuel analysis

  • 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Radiochemistry Div.

Description

The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies have been carried out to explore and establish the viability of the technique as sensitive and precise analytical technique to monitor gadolinium in nuclear fuel analysis. The sub microgram amounts of Gd can be determined with a precision of 5% R.S.D. and the procedure is free from any interference due to other paramagnetic species concomitantly present in the sample except for Cr3+.
