Description
It reports a new NaI (Tl) detector produced by Saint-Gobain. The full-energy peak efficiency has been calculated using Monte-Carlo method. Furthermore, it shows excellent energy and timing resolution. The energy resolution as low as 7.13% and 4.95% (FWHM) have been achieved with 662 keV and 4.44 MeV, respectively. Also high timing resolution (2.1 ns-FWHM) has been recorded with NaI (Tl)-PMT and BC501-PMT detectors operating in coincidence using Am-Be source. Comparing with the native Φ 4' × 4' NaI (Tl) detector, the Saint-Gobain one is satisfied with the requirement of explosive detection. (authors)
