Physicochemical study of the K2B2O4-CdTiO3-NdNbO4 system

  • 1. Rostovskij-na-Donu Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR)

Description

A part of the initial crystallization surface of the K2B2O4-CdTiO3-NdNbO4 system has been studied by visual polythermal and X-ray phase methods to determine the crystallization region of CdNdTiNbO7 with pyrochlore type crystal structure. The investigated system is a stable eutectic cross-section of a hexacomponent oxide system. The projection of the initial crystallization on the triangle of compositions consists of 4 fields corresponding to solid phases -K2B2O4, CdTiO3, NaNbO4 and CdNdTiNbO7. The system investigation demonstrates the possibility to use potassium metaborate as a solvent to grow CdNdTiNbO7 monocrystals
