Far-infrared emission from compact sources in NGC 2264 and the rosette nebula

Description

Far-infrared observations are reported of known2--20 μm sources in NGC 2264 and the Rosette Nebula. Both sources are unresolved in the far-infrared with sizes 9 or approx. =20''. Both have relatively cool 53--175μm colors. The observed infrared luminosities of a few times 103L/sub sun/and the lack of radio continuum emission suggest that both sources may be stellar or protostellar objects of a moderate mass, approx.5--10M/sub sun/of the carbon is found in CO molecules
