Summed M1 strength as a measure of nuclear monopole properties
Description
Recently, an Increased interest has resulted in various energy weighted sum rules relating to the magnetic dipole (Ml) operator. Experimental Indications of relations between the Ml and E2 operators was presented. Here, we point our that (i) a recently derived Ml sum rule by Ginocchlo Indicating a relation to the d-boson number ground state expectation value, using good F-spin, holds In more general situations to a high degree arid, (ii) a new relation exists connecting the variation in summed (orbital) Ml strength to the nuclear isotopic shift. The above two relationships are applied to the Nd, Sm, Gd nuclei and are indicated to a good degree
