Ever heavier nuclei
Description
Three new heavy nuclei have been discovered in the first half of 1999. Their extraordinary life-span for artificial elements allows to confirm a ''stability islet'' existence, researched since long time by physicist. This time the France does not participate to these research. Indeed, since the Alice accelerator stop, french scientist are not in position to contribute to the race for heavy nuclei. (A.L.B.)
