Low level radiation: Hormesis and adaptive response
Description
It is stated that biological defense mechanisms which have been evolving since the origin of life on this planet and constantly undergoing physicochemical and biochemical refinements seem important in cells and organisms exposed to low doses of radiations. It is scientifically imprecise to equate the biological responses at low doses with such high doses at which cellular repair/regenerative processes totally collapse. An appropriate dictum is that all things are beneficial within limits, but become harmful in excess of the limits. (author). 21 refs
