Description

Around former uranium mines, IRSN has explored the possibility of using a variety of microalgae, called diatoms, as biological indicators of water quality. Monitoring the environment and quantifying any impact of radioactive and chemical substances within a 'post-mining' context are part of the Institute's mission. (authors)
