Study on chemical macroheterogeneity in welds
Creators
Description
Formation of chemical macroheterogeneity in surfaced weld metal has been investigated using an iron-boron alloy as an example. Chemical composition change across the weld was estimated according to the eutectic ferrite ratio, using the linear method of determining structural composition of the alloy. It is shown, that within the concentration range of 1 to 1.2%B there is a reverse segregation and for other boron concentrations a normal segregation takes place. Transfer of impurities to a cooling surface is carried out by flows resulted from the decrease of a liquid phase volume during solidification
