Summary of experimental results on charge-exchange reactions with Δ excitations and polarization studies of Δ and N*(1440) resonances

Description
Main results of inclusive and exclusive experimental studies of (3He, t), (t, 3He), (p, n), (p, p') reactions on protons and nuclei with Δ excitation are discussed and summarized. New possibilities for investigation of coherent pion production are discussed. Experiments at various energies with different projectiles offer a possibility to separate partial contributions of mechanisms of charge-exchange reactions with excitation of broad baryonic resonances (Δ and N*(1440)) in nuclei. The importance of interference effects in this class of reactions is stressed. 28 refs.; 6 figs
