  • 1. Technische Hogeschool Delft (Netherlands). Dept. of Applied Physics

Description

The construction and performance of a position sensitive detector for 511 keV annihilation radiation are described. The detector consists of a barium fluoride crystal sandwiched between two wire chambers which are operated with 45 and 500C TMAE vapour. Energy, time and position resolution are presented. The advantages and limitations of the detector are discussed. We also present some preliminary data on other UV scintillators. (orig.)
