Laser-induced optical fiber fluorimetry for determination of trace uranium in nitric acid solution

  • 1. Fudan Univ., Shanghai, SH (China). Dept. of Nuclear Science

Description

A laser-induced optical fiber fluorimetry is reported for the determination of trace uranium in nitric acid solution. A compact pulsed nitrogen laser (λ = 337 nm) is used to excite the fluorescence of uranyl ions. Effects of temperature, concentrations of nitric acid and uranium, as well as the interference ions on the fluorescence intensity are studied. The fluorescence intensity is linear with respect to the concentration of uranium. The detection limits is 10 ppm
