Stress corrosion cracking resistance of alternative reheater tube materials

  • 1. Studsvik Energiteknik AB, Nykoping

Description

Moisture separator reheaters (MSRs) in light water reactors are large shell and tube heat exchangers with moisture separators. In a MSR wet steam from the high pressure turbine is dried and heated from about 160 to 260lt. slashC before it passes on to the low pressure turbine. Saturated steam from the moisture separators enters the reheater on the shell side.An alternate wetting situation, resulting in enrichment of impurities such as chlorides, exists on the outer tube rows. Chloride concentrations of several hundred ppm have been envisaged in evaporating moisture films on the outer tubing. Here the temperature of the tubing is expected to be slightly above 200lt. slashC
