CT findings of pulmonary cryptococcosis in 60 patients

We evaluated the CT findings of pulmonary cryptococcosis in 60 patients. The characteristics and distribution of parenchymal lesions and related thoracic abnormalities were analyzed. Predominant CT findings were pulmonary nodules/masses in 54 cases (90%) and consolidation in 6 cases (10%). The lesions were most commonly located in right lower lobe followed by left lower lobe. Approximately 80% of the lesions attached to the pleura. Pulmonary nodules/masses were associated with spiculation, air-bronchogram pleural indentation, vessel convergence and satellite lesions in more than half of the cases. Cavity was seen in 21 (35%) cases. Follow-up CT showed disappearance or reduction in size of the parenchymal abnormalities in the majority of the cases. (author)
