Special characteristics of dye penetrant tests (PT) on the Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) fusion experiment

Description

The authors investigate the applicability of dye penetrant tests to the vacuum components of the W7-X. Samples with different surface properties were subjected to PT, cleaned using different methods and then examined for their outgassing behaviour at different temperatures in a vacuum chamber connected to a mass spectrometer. The results served to determine the conditions under which PT can be used on vacuum components of the W7-X.
