Description
The extraction of neodymium concentrates product from monazite sand has been done. The purpose of this study, is to separated Nd concentrates from Y, Ce and La as their impurities. The Nd(OH)3 concentrates in HNO3 was as an aqueous phase and tri octyl amine (TOA) was as a solvent organic phase in kerosene. The variables that being observed were concentration of HNO3, concentration of feed, concentration of TOA in kerosene, time and agitation rate. From the study can be deduced that concentration of HNO3 was 2 M, the concentration of feed was 5 gram/10 mL, the concentration of TOA in kerosene was 6 %, time of agitation was 15 minutes and agitation rate 200 rpm. On this condition obtained Kd Nd = 0,56; extraction efficiency of Nd = 35,70%. Separation Factor (SF) of obtained Nd-La = ≈6,48; SF Nd-Ce =3,72 and SF Nd-Y = 1,38. (author)
