Problems of unusual hydrogen bonds between proton donors and hydrides of transition metals and boron

Description
Results of experimental and theoretical studies on intermolecular hydrogen bonds with hydride atom as a proton acceptor site MH...HX (M = W, Re, Ru) and BH...HX were analyzed. Spectral (IR and NMR) criteria of such hydrogen bonds formation were found. Spectral, structural, and thermodynamic characteristics of these unusual hydrogen bonds are governed by regularities found for classical hydrogen bonds. The participation of MH...HX bonds in proton transfer with the formation of cationic nonclassical hydrides as well as formation of hydrogen bonds [M(η2-H2)]+ ... A- in low polar media was demonstrated. Problems arising in this new area are discussed
