Description

The influence of quantum interference effects induced by mixing of coherences and populations in the fluctuating plasma microfield on the redistribution of resonance radiation by HCI is studied in terms of the atomic density matrix. The thermal ion motion is considered within the model microfield method. Results show that the thermal ion motion (ion dynamics) induces quantum interference effects as well, and both are essential in line centres and nearest wings of the scattered radiation. (orig.)
