Some comments and observations from a utility on pressure circuit development for a PWR

  • 1. Central Electricity Generating Board, Berkeley (UK). Berkeley Nuclear Labs.

Description

The aim of this paper is to highlight some of the key issues as seen from the viewpoint of a Utility. Two points should be noted: the views expressed do not necessarily represent those of the CEGB but are based on the views and opinions of the author and a number of his colleagues. The CEGB currently only operate gas cooled reactors, but have placed themselves in the informed customer position. In examining the key issues a Utility must be equally concerned with safety, reliability and economics. The issues of material and fabrication, design procedures and inspection are considered in this context. From the UK viewpoint it is necessary to ensure that the technology transfer can be effectively made. (author)
