Experimental investigation of electron density distribution in trinitrato-tetrakis-carbamide-scandium (3) from X-ray diffraction data

Description

The electron density distribution in a crystal of compound Sc(NO3)3x 4CO(NH2)2 has been studied from X-ray diffraction data. In this complex, the central atom, scandium, has a spherosymmetric argon shell (3d0). The crystals of the compound belong to the triclinic system and feature the following parameters: a=11.722 (3), b=11.146 (2), c=7.484 (2) A, α=93 deg 57' (1'), β=96 deg 21' (1'), and γ=111 deg 43' (1'). It is shown that the differential syntheses exhibit clearly defined residual density peaks in the interatomic space of the carbamide CO(NH2)2 and nitrate NO3- groups. The electron density distribution does not contain peaks in the region of probable localization of 3d-electrons of the scandium ion
