Report on the 8. international HTGR meeting in San Diego, California/USA, September 15-16, 1986
Description
This conference, which is held once a year, is intended as a platform for presenting the achievements obtained worldwide in the HTGR sector, and also an outlook on future projects and goals. The first six international meetings, and the present eighth, have been held in San Diego, California, USA, whereas last year's seventh has been organised by the VGB in Dortmund, FRG, and this town again will be the place for the nineth meeting in 1987, probably at the end of September. The lectures presented to the conference under review covered subjects such as the reasonableness in terms of energy policy, of the development and installation of HTGR-type reactors, experience with operating gas-cooled reactors and with fuel element fabrication, reactor design concepts, reactor safety and market introduction concepts, as well as results from research and development activities, also with an impact on future applications not necessarily relating to electricity generation. Abstract (German)
Die jaehrlich wiederkehrende Tagung dient der Darstellung dessen, was auf dem Gebiet der Hochtemperaturreaktoren (HTR) weltweit erreicht wurde und projektiert wird. Die ersten 6 Tagungen wie auch diese 8. fanden in San Diego, Kalifornien/USA, statt; die letztjaehrige, ausgerichtet von der VGB, in Dortmund. Dortmund wird auch die 9. Tagung beherbergen, voraussichtlich am 30. September und 1. Oktober 1987. Die Vortraege umfassten die energiepolitische Sinnfaelligkeit der Entwicklung und Markteinfuehrung von HTR, Erfahrungen mit in Betrieb befindlichen gasgekuehlten Reaktoren und mit der Brennelementherstellung, Reaktorkonzepte, Reaktorsicherheit und Markteinfuehrungskonzepte sowie Beitraege aus Forschung und Entwicklung, nicht zuletzt fuer kuenftige, ueber die Stromerzeugung hinausgehende Anwendungen.
