Description
This paper purposes a Monte Carlo procedure to study the effect of neutron detector dead time in the pulsed neutron source experiments. It is simple and easy to be implemented. It can be used for different type of neutron sources. In this paper, numerical simulations are performed with different type of neutron sources to validate the Monte Carlo procedure. The neutron count losses predicted by the Monte Carlo procedure is compared with the neutron count losses calculated by the simple mathematical model which is usually used to correct the neutron count losses due to the detector dead time.
