Possible alcohol multimers involved in electron solvation

Description
Pulse radiolysis studies of the yield of solvated electrons as a function of concentration of alcohol in alkane mixtures indicated that the electrons were stabilised in a preformed or partially preformed trap. The temperature effects on the yield and on the Kirkwood correlation coefficient (based on the contribution of additional alcohol molecule dipoles to the dielectric constant of the medium) showed that these traps were almost certainly alcohol multimeric species formed by hydrogen bonding.
