Description
A study has been made of the effects of camphor on the survival curves of gamma irradiated oxic and hypoxic suspensions of E. coli B/r cells. The shoulder on the survival curve in N2 was removed at camphor concentrations above 0.25 mM, with partial removal at 0.13 mM and no effect at lower concentrations. The presence of camphor had no effect on the shoulder of the survival curve for cells irradiated under oxic conditions. Possible clinical applications of camphor as a radio-sensitizer are discussed.
