Description
This volume contains the proceedings of the symposium Application of Multiple Scattering Theory to Materials Science, held in Boston, Massachusetts, December 2-5, 1991 as part of the Fall Meeting of the Materials Research Society. The goal of this meeting was to bring together researchers working on various aspects of multiple scattering theory and on its application to materials science. The organizers hoped that the participants would benefit from interaction with colleagues working on closely related problems, and perhaps more importantly, that they might gain inspiration from seeing the application of similar techniques to a wide spectrum of problems. As can be seen by scanning the table of contents, multiple scattering theory is currently being applied to an extremely wide range of problems, from membranes and colloids, to acoustics, to electromagnetics, to quantum mechanics
