Study on induced radioactivity in the NAL synchrotron

Creators

Description

Radiation fields on the 500 GeV accelerating complex in Batavia have been investigated with the aim of planning the time changes in accelerator efficiency. A mobile monitor, β, γ films, and emulsion films registering fast neutrons were used in investigating the radiation fields. The measurements made it possible to determine the regions of increased radiation activity. An analysis of the time dependence of the induced activity dose rate has shown that the dose rate increases more slowly than the beam intensity. The distribution of the fast-neutron dose rate is 3-5 times higher than the β, γ radiation ones
