Production of REM (Dy, Tb)-Fe master alloys under industrial conditions

Description

The process of producing (Dy, Tb)-Fe master alloys intended for obtaining magnetic alloys and permanent magnets is described as applied to the Siberian chemical plant. It is shown that the preparation of REM (Dy, Tb)-Fe master alloys of various compositions using the method of out-of-furnace calcium-thermic reduction of metal fluorides is practicable within a rather wide range of REM concentrations (30-80 mass %). A conclusion is drawn that main factors affecting the yield of REM-Fe master alloys and the yield of REM into the ingot are the degree of Fe and REM fluorination, granulometric composition of fluorides, reagents and metallic Fe powder, calcium-thermic reduction conditions, the composition of the master alloy obtained, storage conditions for initial raw materials and reagents

Abstract (Russian)

Описан процесс получения (Dy, Tb)-Fe лигатур, используемых для производства магнитных сплавов и постоянных магнитов, на Сибирском химическом комбинате. Показано, что получение РЗМ (Dy, Tb)-Fe лигатур разного состава методом кальциетермического внепечного восстановления фторидов металлов возможно в достаточно широком диапазоне концентраций РЗМ (30-80 мас. %). Сделан вывод, что основными факторами, влияющими на выход лигатур РЗМ-Fe и выход РЗМ в слиток, являются степени фторирования Fe и РЗМ, гранулометрический состав фторидов, реагентов, металлического порошка Fe, условия проведения кальциетермического восстановления, состав получаемой лигатуры, условия хранения исходного сырья и реагентов
