Description

Dynamic models of self actuating safety valves operating in liquid service have been developed to investigate the stability of the pipe/valve system. Though direct comparison with test results has to be improved general trends obtained with the different test configurations have been confirmed by numerical simulations. The best way to improve stability of the safety valves as it can be seen from test results and numerical simulations seems to be damping of the valves. (orig./GL)
