Determination of the neutron binding energy of the delayed neutron emitter 137Xe

Description
The neutron binding energy of 137Xe has been deduced to be 4025.2 +- 0.6 keV from a study of the 136Xe(n,γ)137Xe reaction. The importance of a precise value for this quantity is due to the fact that an accurate determination of binding energies of delayed neutron emitters is possible only for 87Kr and 137Xe, neighbouring stable isotopes. Fuer die Neutronen Bindungsenergie von 137Xe wurde aus der Untersuchung der 136Xe(n,γ)137Xe Reaktion ein Wert von 4025,2 +- 0,6 keV gefunden. Die Wichtigkeit eines genauen Wertes fuer diese Groesse ist dadurch begruendet, dass eine genaue Bestimmung der Bindungsenergien von verzoegerten Neutronen-Emittern nur fuer die stabilen Nachbarisotope 87Kr und 137Xe moeglich ist.
