Description
McPNL/v.1.0 is a Monte Carlo computer code which simulates the response of γ-ray detectors to photons generated by radiative neutron capture and inelastic neutron scattering within pulse neutron logging in typical open or cased hole logging environments. The code contains detailed treatment of neutron and γ-ray interactions and has options to generate either the temporal response or the pulse height spectral response within specified time gates. The accuracy of the temporal response simulation has been verified using 14 laboratory data sets taken with a Welex tool in test pits of both open and cased holes, for limestone and sand formations with varying amounts of porosity and water salinity.
