On the mineralogy of the uraniferous carbonaceous shale of quatrain area, western desert
Description
A detailed mineralogical study of carbonaceous uraniferous shale of quatrain area is carried out using x-ray diffraction and differential thermal analysis techniques. This study resulted in the identification of the three principal clay minerals; namely, kaolinite, montmorillonite and illite. Beside some uranium values adsorbed on clay minerals and organic matter, discrete uranium minerals are identified; namely, uraninite and coffinite. Moreover, dolomite, calcite and gypsum have also been detected
