The nuclear falling out

The Sizewell B enquiry is discussed in the context of the wider question of whether nuclear power is the answer to UK energy policy for the future. Economies, costs, forecasting of energy demands, energy efficiency and alternatives to the nuclear option, are examined. It is felt that one of the most worrying features of the current debate is that for the Government and the electricity supply industry as much as for the objectors, quantifiable economic factors appear to be of less importance than emotional commitment to a nuclear policy.
