Description
CANDU reactors make extensive use of digital computers for on-line reactor and plant control and monitoring. The computerized side of the CANDU man/machine interface system incorporates colour coded annunciation displays and various graphic display formats. They have been very well received by plant operators as demonstrated by 10 years of experience. Further implementation of new computerized schemes such as alarm status displays, computerized procedure support functions, transient analyses aides and schemes for alarm reductions are proposed for further operational benefits. In this paper we describe existing features of the CANDU man/machine interface system as exemplified by the CANDU 600 design, and relate these to improvements and refinements that are presently under development
