Calibration of the isomer shift of 197Au by EC lifetime measurements
Description
The half-life difference of 196Au in the forms of Au metal and metallic Au-Cu solid solutions has been measured. Exchange and overlap corrections in the solid state are calculated and used to deduce changes of the electron density at the Au nucleus. The results are discussed in terms of volume and charge transfer effects. They are used to calibrate the isomer shift of 197Au. (Auth.)
