Avoidance of cyclotron breakdown in partially evacuated waveguides

Description

Cyclotron breakdown in a partially evacuated waveguide which passes through a resonant magnetic field can be suppressed by application of a transverse electrostatic field. A practical system for accomplishing this and experimental tests of the concept are described
