Measurements of plasma equilibrium response to external multipole magnetic fields in an axisymmetric mirror

Description

The paper is devoted to the experimental investigation of the plasma equilibrium response to externally applied non-axisymmetric disturbances of the magnetic field in an axisymmetric open trap. The results are presented for dipole and quadrupole disturbances which were applied inside the expander end cell. Comparison of the experimental data with the estimates made on the basis of the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) theory is given. (Author)
