Interpretation of clad motion phenomena in out of pile experiments the alpha code

Description

This communication deals with clad melting and relocation phenomena related to LMFBR safety analysis of loss of flow accidents. We present the physical model ALFA elaborated for single channel geometry and its application to the interpretation of two out of pile tests simulating a complete accidental sequence. The satisfactory results obtained on initial motion phase and on clad relocation show that we have now a good understanding of the clad motion phenomena in single pin geometry. Further work is now necessary on bundle cases for a better knowledge in the reactor conditions
