Tepco starts using zirconium-liner fuel in its BWRs
Description
The Tokyo Electric Power Company is starting to use in its BWRs a high-performance fuel with zirconium-liner tubing. Since this fuel allows rapid increases in power, fuel reliability and unit capacity factors can be improved. There are also benefits in fuel cycle economy and load following capability. (author)
