Description
The role of distortion is studied in (γ, np) reactions within the framework of a factorized approximation, where the momentum distribution of the nucleon pair in the initial nucleus is separated from the rest of the cross section. Calculations are presented for the 16O target at different photon energies and with different optical model potentials describing the final state interaction felt by the emitted nucleons. The shape of the cross section is not very sensitive to the distortion, while its size is reduced, the scaling factor depending to a large extent on the particular optical potential used. (orig.)
