Constrained fits of αs and Mtop from e+e- annihilation data

Description
From all electroweak data of e+e- annihilation experiments on hadronic and leptonic cross sections and the leptonic forward-backward asymmetries in the energy range from 7 to 92 GeV, electroweak precision tests from hadron colliders and νN-scattering, the recently measured top mass from CDF and the result for sin2θlepteff from the measurement of the left-right polarization asymmetry Ae at SLC the standard model parameters Mtop, MZ and αs are fitted. The systematic errors are carefully studied using the full correlation matrix between all experimental results and fitting them directly instead of combining the fitted electroweak parameters from the various experiments. A fit to all data excluding SLC results yields αs=0.1220±0.0049-0.0024+0.0027 and Mtop=168±11±9 GeV, including SLC data gives αs=0.1210±0.0049-0.0022+0.0025 and Mtop=179±10±11 GeV. The second error corresponds to a variation of the Higgs mass in the interval [60,1000] GeV. (orig.)
