Description

/sup 99m/Tc-labelled diphosphonic acids are used in routine diagnostics of skeletal diseases, with a high accumulation rate in areas of intensive bone metabolism. Therefore they seem to be well suited for treatment of malign osseous processes after incorporation of a low-energy β- emitter with its low bone marrow radiation dose. A synthesized 35S-thiophosphonic acid was tested in rats as /sup 99m/Tc complex and revealed an organ distribution pattern typical for diphosphonic acids. The 1 to 10 accumulation ratio of normal and damaged bone tissue, resp., renders the substance suitable for radiotherapy
