Notifiable events in German nuclear power plants, 1991

The nuclear power plants in the Federal Republic of Germany (old and new federal states) reported 249 notifiable events in 1991. No releases of radioactive substances above the licensed levels occurred. In no case was there any hazard to persons and to the environment. No events were recorded in category S (instant notification), while ten events were classified in category E (express notification). Category N (normal notification) showed 233 events. No category V events (events occurring before the reactor is fueled) were encountered. The six events occurring in the nuclear power plants in the new German federal states in the first six months of the year under review were in category AE 3 (the lowest category). 238 events correspond to INES level 0, while eleven events are INES level 1. No event at a higher INES level was recorded. The notifiable events were analyzed in the light of various aspects. No systematic weak spots were detected in the process. (orig.)
