Description

Case's singular eigenfunction expansion is applied to the radiative transfer equation describing photon interaction within a vegetation canopy with application to satellite remote sensing. To better understand the theoretical detail, the conventional neutron transport equation is initially considered. For the radiative transfer equation without rotational invariance as applied to a vegetation canopy, and additional 'partially adjoint' equation is required for orthogonality of the singular eigenfunctions. A completeness proof is outlined. 2 refs
