Use of environmental natural isotopes in hydrology
Description
The principle of natural tracing using environmental isotopes in hydrology (water isotopes 18O, 2H, 3H and dissolved isotopes 14C, 34S, 15N) are presented. The applications in hydrology are reviewed: surface water (flood discharge, snow, lakes, stagnant water); non-saturated zone (water transfer from the surface to aquifers); aquifers (recharge conditions for unconfined aquifers, origin and flow velocity of confined ground water, geothermal circuit). The use of isotopes in environment problems are also examined: pollution by sulfates, origin of dissolved nitrogen in surface and ground waters

On presente le principe du tracage naturel a l'aide des isotopes du milieu en hydrologie (isotopes constitutifs de l'eau 18O, 2H, 3H et isotopes dissous 14C, 34S, 15N). Les applications en hydrologie aux eaux de surface (crue, neige, lacs, eaux stagnantes), a la zone non saturee (transfert surface-nappe) et aux nappes (conditions d'alimentation des nappes libres, origine et vitesse des nappes captives, circuit geothermique) sont passees en revue ainsi que les applications des isotopes aux problemes du milieu (pollution par les sulfates, origine de N2 dissous dans les eaux de surface et souterrainesAdditional details
