Differentiation and oxygenation in multicell spheroids of human colon carcinoma
Description
Multicell spheroids of different human colon carcinoma were grown and assessed for differentiation characteristics and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA0 expression using morphological and immuno-histochemical procedures. Differentiation ranged from relatively poor (HT29 cells), to moderate (WiDr, Co115) to high (Co112). Heterogeneity of CEA expression was also observed. Differentiated spheroids exhibited acinar structures with intercellular junctional complexes, secretory granules, and lumen with CEA. Co112 spheroids were similar morphologically to xenografts and to the original tumor from the patient
