Positron emission tomography (PET), an advanced imaging system for nuclear medicine is based on the in-vivo detection and imaging of positron-emitting radioisotopes which are introduced as a tracer into organ or tissue of interest. Two ares in which PET technology provides the most accurate diagnostic, the heart and brain diseases are briefly discussed. ills
