Influence of carboxylic acid amide structure on extraction of UO2
Description
Extraction of UO2(NO3)2 HNO3 by carboxylic acid amides OctC(O)NR2, where R = butyl, iso-octyl, and iso-dodecyl, is studied. It is demonstrated that the trisolvate of UO2(NO3)2 forms in addition to the disolvate, in contrast with extraction by tributylphosphate. The fraction of the trisolvate increases as the length of the amide hydrocarbon radical nC increases. Extraction of HNO3 weakly depends on nc. However, nc determines the region in which a second organic phase forms. The extraction constants are determined. The resulting mathematical models describe well the experimental data. 2 refs., 2 figs., 2 tabs
