Description

Intestinal morphofunction was studied in the early and long-term period (10 days, 4 and 8 month.) in experiments on 380 Wistar male rats, mass 200-250 g, after fractionated irradiation of the gastric zone and administration of peritol, a new anabolic drug manifactured by EGIT, Hungary. Irradiation of the animals at a summary dose of 35 and 20 Gy was performed using the Luch gamma-therapeutic unit. The results of the experiments have shown that the administration of peritol to animals during irradiation caused more intense recovery of their mass and the number of crypts in the intestine, the appearance of signs of higher functional activity in the crypt epitheliocytes and in the capillary endothelium of the mucous membrane. The use of peritol helped to preserve intestinal structures in the long-term period (4 month. following irradiation) though it did not prevent changes that resulted from the development of postradiation nephritis
